The Art of Being Unique

One of the hardest parts about being a drag performer, personally, is coming up with unique numbers to keep the audience entertained. I have seen so many performers that just try to rely on being beautiful, but calling on the wise words of Mimi Imfurst: pretty is only entertaining for the first minute.

When I first started performing I had a hard time figuring my "style." I did some numbers that friends told me were good when I knew that I could have stepped up the game. I knew that I was boring at that if I was going to get people's respect as a performer I had to step it up. My first performance "breakthrough" was when I performed a sped up version of Miley Cyrus' song Party in the USA. People were laughing and having a really good time, and so was I. After that number I realized that seeing people smile was why I was performing. From that performance on I have always tried to make my performances as unique as possible by messing with audience member's minds, making them laugh, or doing something that you would never expect.

Most of my inspiration comes from watching YouTube videos or listening to a song and trying to figure out exactly how to spice it up. Why perform to Rebecca Black's song Friday just straight up when you can be possessed by her...

Overall, I just want to share my ideas with everyone when I perform. Don't be cliche or you'll just blend in.
